The Important Things You Need To Know About Recovering
Your Pool Table
What should you expect to pay?
Here are some questions to ask yourself so you know what to expect to pay and how you might be able to save a little money on your recover.
1) What size is your pool table? (i.e. 7', 8', 9', inside play field dimensions will help determination) (See Room Size Chart)
2) Do you want to change the existing cloth to a new color or grade?
3) Is the pool table on the ground floor or is it upstairs or in a basement?
4) What is the condition of your cushions? (i.e. Are the cushions old and developing hard spots in the rubber?)
The grade of cloth, the age of the cloth as well as the way it has been taken care of will ultimately determine if your cloth needs to be replaced. The following reasons are some factors as to why you might need or want your cloth replaced regardless of the appearance of your cloth.
AGE: Depending on the age of the cloth you have or how many times it has been removed and re-stretched, your cloth may be beginning to or already is deteriorating and loosing its resilience. The age of the cushions under the cloth can be a factor as well. If the cushions show signs of hardening in part or in whole, they will need to be replaced which requires the cloth to be replaced.
GRADE: The type of cloth you have may determine how many times it can be re-stretched.
WEAR: Normal wear on your cloth is inevitable. The way you or the others that play on it or the type of ball set you are using can determine if it should or needs to be replaced. Does it have little tears in the surface or around the inside of pocket area? Are there an abundance of little white dots on the surface?
CARE: How you take care of your cloth can determine the longevity of your cloth. Do you brush your cloth regularly in the same direction? Do you have inexperienced players miscueing and hitting the cloth with the tip of the cue?
COST: It will always bee less expensive to change your cloth at the same time of your move. The pool table will already be apart due to it being moved so, overall, there is less time involved for your installation service company verses them making a separate trip to perform a cloth recover.

How long will your new cloth last?
How well you take care of your pool table will determine how long your cloth or felt will last. We recommend keeping things like chalk, cue tips, dogs, cats and dangling jewelry away from the billiard cloth because it may cause a scratch. Also, places that have a lot of heat from the sun or moisture in the air can fade and damage the cloth. Your table should also be brushed after play and always remain covered while it is not in use.
But sometimes the inevitable happens and you wind up with a scratch in the felt or after years of being in a basement the cloth isn’t as vibrant. When this occurs, let factory trained billiard technicians at AGR and its network of installers, perform the quality of work found nowhere else.
Our work has the best representation. Our cloth is always pulled tight and there are no ripples in the fabric. All staples in the pockets are tucked up underneath so no one will get hurt. We even make sure that all rails are tightly upholstered and the table is leveled properly. See Setup & Relevel.
